How Valuable is Your Time?
Your Client Calls:
You need to be at a luncheon meeting in Sacramento tomorrow. You determine there are three ways to get there -- which will work best for you?
1. DRIVE - You have two choices, leave tonight after a long day’s work, spend the night to be there on time; Or get up at the crack of dawn, or earlier, to arrive bleary-eyed but on time. After a five hour drive, how refreshed and sharp are you for your best presentation?
After the meeting, how appealing does a five hour drive sound? You may consider the fatigued condition you will be in prior to your drive. Perhaps spending the night in a hotel, and drive back in the morning may be a better option; but now you are adding hotel and meal expenses to your trip costs. Take into account the lost productive hours while you drive home the next day.
2. AIRLINE – You could take the airline, however, it would be no less fatiguing than driving. After checking in one hour before the flight, and undressing for the security screening, you find yourself a comfy chair to await the boarding call. Think that was fun? You’ll get to do that all again at your intermediate destination, just in time for the 30 yard dash to the connecting flight. You will arrive, five hours later; no more refreshed than if you had driven.
3. PACIFIC AIR TAXI – For the same meeting, you are able to enjoy your typical morning, and arrive at the airport in time to step into the aircraft. You will arrive ninety minutes later refreshed and ready for your meeting. After your meeting, it’s just another ninety minute flight from being home in time for dinner.
What is your time worth? How safe will you be on the road? How much aggravation do you experience in busy terminals?
